TRUSS Technology in Building
 The hazards that truss construction present are compounded by a lack of knowledge about truss types, design, and fire rating that each building presents. Firefighters are expected to learn more about those dangers that our personal assignment dictates. If you are on a ladder company then spending time learning modern truss design and the fire hazards should be a priority since you are at greatest odd at venting the roof. If you are on the engine company then you will find yourself fighting fire structures that are built with truss roof and in some cases lightweight "I" beam floor joists that burn quickly. Bottom line ... It is equally important that we assume personal responsibility for our safety and this is one subject that you might look at more closely.
