We are working with the Fire Department Safety Officer Association (FDSOA) to provide an online version of their Incident Safety Officer certification program. Here is how it works.

SPECIAL NOTE - If you are a firefighter who wants to become the best you can be you must make everyday a training day. This program is primarily designed to meet the needs of firefighters wanting to be pro-board certified as an Incident Safety Officer through the FDSOA (Fire Department Safety Officers Association.)

If you want to be a firefighter who is experienced in the subject of ISO you can buy David W. Dodsons book, Incident Safety Officer 2nd edition (Link below) read it, learn it, and practice it.

You can take this online program if you choose but unless you meet the qualification prerequisites set by FDSOA and NFPA 1521 you will not qualify to take the official FDSOA ISO certification examination.

This image give an idea of what you can expect. Seventeen chapters from the reference book translated into an audio and visual study aid for those that like diversified learning. Reading, watching and listening. In addition we have mp3 audio files for each so that you can download and listen on your ipod or any compatible mp3 player. So me student burn them to a disc and listen while on the road.

Each chapter concludes with a chapter knowledge assessment. The quizzes are not a direct representation of how the questions are presented during the actual FDSOA H ISO examination. If you demonstrate excellent chapter knowledge the examination will go well for you.

1. You must register for the program.
2. The cost is $80.00 USD. Once enrolled you will have access to the ISO section for a period of six months.
3. You can participate in the ISO program as you deem necessary. Although a web moderator will monitor your progress we will not force you to complete the work. That is all under your control.
4. At the completion of your study you should be able to complete one of the two online practice examinations. When this step is completed you will be invited to submit an online program evaluation. Once it is submitted you will immediately be directed to a certificate rendering page where you will print out a personal certificate of completion.
5. When you are ready you can submit your FDSOA certification examination application along with the FDSOA examination fee (separate charge) plus your PSEN certificate of completion to Robert Finley, FDSOA Program Dir. programs@fdsoa.org
6. FDSOA will arrange for you to take the official Incident Safety Officer Certification Examination at a location in your area.

FDSOA has informed us that they are capable of giving certification examinations in sections of Canada and to American soldiers needing ISO certification when serving overseas. Fore more detailed information write programs@fdsoa.org
